Review: Lush Fresh Face Masks

From my middle school years, I have absolutely adored Lush products. Except.. I used to live in Korea at the time so I didn't have easy access to these products. A couple weekends ago, my friends and I went to the mall to relieve stress from midterms. Of the stores we went to, Lush was one of them, well for the purpose of my friend buying something for her mom for Mother's Day. While she was choosing her gift, I was just wandering around the store and stopped by the facial mask area and the sales lady was nice enough to give me a couple samples to try out!

1. Cosmetic Warrior

"Soothing and Deep Cleansing Blend for Breakout Prone Skin"

Claims:

Spots! Oily areas! Blackheads! The frustration of having breakout prone skin can incite aggressive, ‘industrial’ type cleaning. Unfortunately, breakout prone skin is often very sensitive, so using harsh cleansers can actually make the problem worse. Don’t over attack your skin; lead it firmly down the path to salvation with Cosmetic Warrior. Cosmetic Warrior is kind to problem-laden faces thanks to moisturizing egg whites and honey, which smooth and tighten the pores, and cleansing garlic and tea tree oil for a fresh, clear, happy face.

Ingredients:

Kaolin , Fresh Green Grapes (Vitis vinifera) , Fresh Free Range Eggs , Honey (Mel) , Cornstarch (Zea mays) , Glycerine , Fresh Garlic (Allium sativum) , Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) , *Limonene , Perfume

Rating: 3/5

Pros:
  • Really removes blackheads near nose area.
Cons:
  • Does not really help with skin.
  • Smells very strong... of garlic.
  • The mask has a very thick consistency, making it hard to spread across your face.

2. Love Lettuce

"Balancing Mask For All Skin Types"

Claims:

Love Lettuce is our exfoliating ground almond mask that scoops up dirt, oil and debris and washes it all away. Exfoliation is an important part of good skincare, as it removes the buildup of dead skin that can clog your pores and cause impurities. Love Lettuce is a great example of how just a few ingredients can make a fresh, effective product for the skin. We blend calming French lavender oil with seaweed and honey to nourish and soften skin, and to balance oily T-zones.

Ingredients:

Agar Agar Gel , Kaolin , Honey (Mel) , Fullers Earth , Glycerine , Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis) , Ground Almond Shells (Prunus dulcis) , Ground Almonds (Prunus dulcis) , Lavender Oil (Lavandula augustifolia) , Chlorophyllin , *Geraniol , *Limonene , *Linalool , Perfume

Rating:5/5

Pros:
  • Leaves the skin SUPER soft and hydrated
  • Helps with exfoliating the skin
  • Very calming for the skin
  • Smells delicious.
  • Does not leave the skin dry like many other masks.
  • Visible difference in my oily zones.
Cons:
  • When the mask dries, the mask starts to get flaky and starts to get everywhere so I would recommend you stay in the bathroom when you put this mask on.

3. The Sacred Truth

"Divine Intervention for Dry and Mature Skin"

Claims:

Can you handle the truth? The truth is, your skin needs more regular maintenance and care as you get older. As you age, your dermis is thinning, losing its elasticity and ability to retain moisture, which can make the skin appear dull or sallow. Don’t fret! Taking care is easy thanks to this nutrient-packed mask. The Sacred Truth contains a powerful combination of rich, softening ingredients like linseed, eggs and shea butter to deeply moisturize and nutritious wheat grass, papaya, green tea and ginseng root to restore essential vitamins and brighten skin.

Rating:

Pros:
  • WOW. I absolutely LOVE the effect of this mask on my skin. Leaves the skin baby smooth.
  • Perfect for dryer skins.
  • Does not have a strong scent.
  • Easy to apply.
Cons:

  • Due to the oils in this mask, I would recommend oily skin people to stay away from this mask. Other then that, I would recommend it to everyone and anyone.

All in all, I always used to think Lush products were pricey. However, you really get quality products. I absolutely LOVED most of the masks I tried out and I'm willing to go buy a jar for about $6.95 USD.
