Tutorial: Kim Yuna Inspired Everyday Monolid Look

Let me tell you guys a secret. I used to have monolids but recently got double eyelid surgery because so many people made fun of my small eyes in high school. However, recently, many people around me have monolids where as when I was in high school, I was the only one with monolids. Seeing everyone with monolids makes me miss my monolids a little, so I decided to do a monolid tutorial inspired by the one and only Queen Yuna.

Products Used:

  1. Champagne Shimmery Eyeshadow
  2. Light Brown Eyeshadow
  3. Dark Brown Eyeshadow
  4. Shimmery Brown Pencil Eyeliner
  5. Black Pencil Eyeliner
  6. Black Liquid Eyeliner
  7. Mascara

 1. Apply a shimmery champagne color eyeshadow as a base all over your lid. Make sure you open your eyes to see if you applied the eyeshadow high enough to be visible.

2. Apply a light brown eyeshadow on top of the champagne color. Keep this color closer to your lash line, But once again, make sure you can see the gradient in colors when your eyes are open.

 3. A trick that I used to do when I had monolids was to outline the shape of my eye with my eye open about 1 millimeter about my eye in order to see how much eyeliner I needed to apply in order for it to be visible.

 4. After you have a general outline of your eye, start filling in the gaps with either a dark brown or a black eyeliner.
MAKE SURE your eyeliner is waterproof. For Monolids, the top of your lash line tends to rub a lot with the top of your lid so the eyeliner can easily smear.

 5. Start to draw a wing for your eyes. If you're a beginner at eyeliner and have monolids, I suggest you use the trick I used to. But if you're pretty good at eyeliner, starting with the wing of your eye may be easier.

 6. Here is a picture with the finished wing. Another tip for monolids and double eyelids is for when you draw the wing of your eyeliner, instead of using a pencil liner, if you use a liquid liner of the same color, the wing lasts longer and does not transfer onto your bottom lash line.

7. Once again, make sure your fill in your eyes COMPLETELY. It's going to look super weird if you have any empty spaces.

8. One fancy way to make your eye liner seem more gradient like is to apply a shimmery eyeliner of a brighter color than your actual eyeliner in the middle of your eye on top of the eyeliner you already applied.
9. After you apply the shimmery eyeliner, smudge it out a bit. That way, the colors of your eyeshadow and your eyeliners will naturally combine together.
10.  Finally, curl your lashes and apply your favorite mascara.

Well. Here is my second tutorial! Tell me what you think! If you have any questions about monolids or double eyelids, comment down below.

Also! A special thanks to my friend YooMin who let me play with her monolids!
